Evaluation

Evaluation of my final draft of my music magazine- From looking at my second draft to my completed product, it is apparent that I have made several changes such as the following:       On my front cover, the word “Countless” in my masthead was of an inferior quality. Therefore, I decided to change the font and placed it behind the word “Jazz” (also in the masthead) highlighting the importance of that genre of music. It also implies that the magazine is known well enough for part of the masthead to be covered.   Secondly, on my contents page the image of the music notation had a visible white background that could easily be noticed. I thought this showed a lack of my skills so I decided to get rid of it and spread out my cover lines and add some anchorage text underneath each of the cover lines, filling up the space left on the page.   The cover line; “Check out what’s inside!” looked as though it had been randomly placed onto the page, so I moved it a...

Peer Assessment

Peer Assessment for my music magazine Q- Do you think my magazine incorporates the theme of jazz? A- Personally I think that this magazine does because as soon as I look at the front cover I can see by the chosen colour scheme and instruments in the images that this is a jazz magazine. The colours are dark and the images are of instruments such as trumpets and pianos. Q- Would you say there is a house-style to this magazine? A- Yes, I would because all the pages contain a grey border, the logo ‘ CJ’  is on each of the pages and the text is the same. This to me shows that there is a house-style to the magazine as it proves that whatever page in the magazine you turn to, you will be able to tell what magazine it’s from. Q - What feature on the front cover do you find the most eye-catching? A- I find the masthead the most eye-catching because it is so contrasting from the black background on the main image. The colour white really stands out from the remains of the fro...

Original photography

Original photography I decided not to use this photo because I found his facial expression too serious and didn't fit the style that I wanted my magazine to have.  I liked this shot because it focuses specifically on the instrument itself, however because my article was all about the artist, it didn't feel right to not include his face within the double page spread. This was the photo I eventually decided to use for my double page spread, it needed some editing, especially within the background but it shows the artist looking much more relaxed with his instrument which is the look I was hoping for.  I used this image on my contents page because it is not too eye-catching that it takes the main focus away from the text but relates well to the content of the text and the magazine itself. This is the image I used on my front cover of my magazine, I chose this image because of the angle of the trumpet, it makes the reader feel as though they're being drawn into t...
